  • Solidified collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders in each targeted service sector including UBC Continuing Professional Development in the Faculty of Medicine; the BC Dental Association; the BC Dental Hygienists’ Association; Chartered Professionals in Human Resources of BC and Yukon; BC Family Child Care Association; First Nations Health Authority; BC Aboriginal Child Care Society; and the Aboriginal Head Start Association of BC
  • Established Advisory Committees (CIRCA; CIRCA Employment and CIRCA Child Care) that include families, self-identified individuals with ASD, post-secondary institutions and representatives from over 36 service organizations and 4 government Ministries
  • Funded partnerships with service organizations to support the on-going development of additional innovative training opportunities and resources
  • Completed service sector needs assessments that included focus groups and/or surveys
  • Completed in-depth, sector specific cross-jurisdictional scans of existing on-line ASD-related resources and training materials in BC, Canada and key international sites
  • Partnered with UBC Dentistry to augment the future curriculum in the Dental Hygiene and Doctor of Dental Medicine programs
  • Drafted content curriculum matrices for child care and employment training and resources

NEXT STEPS

  • Develop and produce a series of free, on-line professional development training materials and resources to address the needs (e.g., available as on-line modules and/or in print) in collaboration with service sector partners
  • Continue to establish a network of interdisciplinary, post-secondary programs in ASD to improve pre-service training opportunities
  • Collaborate with community partners to ensure that all new resources are adapted and accessible to families and individuals with ASD across BC
  • Evaluate the impact of all new initiatives
